Delete your DanceIT account

This page explains how to delete your account in the DanceIT app (Android package club.danceit.app), what is deleted, what is kept and for how long.

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone.

Delete your account in the app

Open the DanceIT app and sign in.
Go to the Profile tab.
Scroll down and tap Settings.
Tap Delete account.
Type DELETE in the confirmation box, tap Delete my account, then confirm in the alert.

Before you confirm, the app shows a What will happen summary: the studios you will leave, any studio that will be transferred to another owner or closed, and how many future events that affects.

Your account is deleted straight away. You are signed out, you can no longer sign in, and we send a confirmation email to the address that was on the account.

Request deletion by email

If you cannot sign in, or you have already uninstalled the app, email support@danceit.club with the subject Delete my account, sent from the email address on the account. We verify the request and complete it within 30 days. If you write from a different address we will ask you for more information first, so that nobody else can delete your account.

What is deleted

Your name, display name, biography, phone number, city, country, date of birth, gender and public handle.
Your profile photo and cover photo.
Your email address, which is replaced with a non-routable placeholder, and your password.
Your profile links.
Your face-enrollment photos and face templates, and any face image stored alongside an attendance check-in. This is biometric data and it is deleted from our database and from our file storage.
Your sign-in sessions, push-notification tokens and notification settings.
Your notifications, dance-experience entries and class reminders.
Your read receipts for studio news.
The accounts you blocked.
Any QR code that pointed at your profile, or that you created, is revoked.
Any business subscription on your account is cancelled and the card-on-file flag is cleared, so the account can never be billed again.

What is kept, and why

Attendance and payment records at studios you attended. These are the studio's own business and accounting records, not only yours, so they stay. They no longer carry your name: they point at an anonymous placeholder.
Studio rules you accepted. Kept as evidence of consent, and hidden from staff-facing lists.
Studio news posts you wrote as staff. The post stays as part of the studio's history; your name is removed from it.
Blocks that other people placed on you. Removing these would let anyone undo a block by deleting and recreating an account.
Dance moves you created are removed from the marketplace and made private.
An anonymous placeholder record, shown as "Retired Dancer" and a short number. It exists only so the records above stay valid, and it holds no personal information about you.
Anything we are required to keep by law, for example for tax purposes or to deal with a legal claim.

If you own a studio

Deleting your account cannot leave a studio without an owner, so for each studio you own we either transfer it or close it:

If the studio has another manager, assistant manager or instructor, ownership is transferred to the most senior of them.
If there is nobody to transfer to, the studio is closed and its future events are cancelled.

The app shows you exactly which of your studios will be transferred and which will be closed, before you confirm.

Additional retention period

Personal data is removed from our live systems at the moment the deletion is confirmed. Residual copies can survive for a short time in encrypted database backups and in previous versions of deleted files in our file storage. Both age out automatically, within 30 days at the latest.

Diagnostic and crash reports do not contain your account data and are retained by our error-reporting provider for a limited period.
